Once you have Deleted the HP Tools partition and the Hibernation Partition, then in Minitool you can select to Extend/Resize the he C: partition to the End of the drive safely. If you don't have a Hiberfil.sys file in your C: drive, you have already turned Hibernation off so you can now safely Delete the Hibernation Partition.
If you followed the instructions in the link remove hipberfil.sys. The "Tools" I was speaking of is the name of the partition "HP Tools" It's easiest to just delete this partition with Minitool. But you will see the difference if you delete the Free Space partition, you then will see the other dark green Extended Partition that needs to be separately deleted. The two Green colors in Disk Management are very close in color so it is hard to discern between the two. Any thoughts on whether I could move the HP Tools partition, or is putting it on a USB drive my only option? The contents of the HP folder date back to 2012 - I have no idea whether they are still relevant. My Internet search has found very few references to deleting a hibernation partition, but the ones I do find either date back to, or specifically reference Windows 7 – which was the original operating system of my laptop. I’m not clear on whether I need a hibernation partition anyway.
I’ve purchased 8 GM of compatible RAM but the SSD has a 4 GB hibernation partition that I believe I need to delete because of the mismatch. I deleted the large OEM Recovery partition and reallocated the C drive, which is a good start, but it only has 4 GB of Ram. I have an HP Folio 13 laptop I purchased in 2011 or 2012, that I would like to get a little more life out of and make more usable.
